My Sunny May Days

The two most wonderful, life-changing days of my life both happened in May.




May 15, 2004

This day in May was cool but bright and sunny. It was the day I married my hunny, my teddy bear, my love. We had been a happy, harmonious couple for 2.5 years, and I couldn't (and still can't) imagine a better partner.

We had a small, casual wedding that was just right for us. We were married in a civil ceremony at the local civic centre, followed by a reception for 50 of our closest family and friends at a very cool restaurant venue downtown. Our delicious dinner was a buffet, and our dessert was a selection of amazing cakes.


It was a wonderful day: the first day of the rest of our lives, as they say. 


May 21, 2009

This day in May was unseasonably warm, with a high of 26C, not that I had any idea what it was like outside. I was too busy giving birth to my beautiful son.

Our long-awaited baby took his time leaving the womb. My induction was started on a Tuesday afternoon, eight days past my due date, and he finally made his grand entrance about 42 hours later. You can read the full birth story here, if you're so inclined.

The day I became a mother — wow — nothing can compare to that. My life was forever changed. My world has become so small, yet so full.
